Texas forward Madison Booker will enter the 2026-2027 regular season as one of college women’s basketball’s top players. Now at senior for the Longhorns, Booker’s resume boasts an impressive array of accolades that now includes a watch list nomination to this season’s Jersey Mike’s Naismith Trophy Women’s College Player of the Year honor. The Atlanta Tipoff Club, which gives out the annual award, announced the latest preseason watch list earlier this week.
Essentially, Booker is among 50 players who
were selected for this season’s preseason watch list.
The award recognizes the top women’s college basketball athlete each season.
Booker is heading into her fourth year as a Longhorn after beginning her career with the team, in Austin. She was among this year’s five current college players to receive the vaulted honor of being named an Associated Press Preseason All-American.
Even so, it’s potentially the final season of Booker’s college career, as the three-time First Team All-American honoree and three-time Cheryl Miller Small Forward of the Year Award winner is expected to receive excessive attention from the WNBA once Booker concludes her trophy collection beyond the bounds of the sport’s highest level for women.
Booker currently sits at fifth all-time on Texas’ scoring list. She has 1,969 points to date, which, as Texas Athletics has noted means she’s 31 points behind the just fourth former Texas player to score 2,000 points during her time as a student-athlete.
Booker has so far accumulated 699 rebounds, 431 assists, and 199 steals during her tenure as a Longhorn.
Booker and No. 6 Texas open the regular season Nov. 4 against Fairleigh Dickinson at Moody Center.
