The 2025-26 college basketball season is almost here, and it hopes to be a special one for the Kentucky Wildcats men’s basketball program.
Excitement for this team was already through the roof, but it managed to grow even further with Kentucky’s 78-65 win over preseason No. 1 Purdue. A driving force in that impressive win was the Cats’ trio of Bluegrass natives: Freshman center Malachi Moreno, freshman guard Jasper Johnson, and sophomore forward Trent Noah.
Johnson, a former Woodford County standout,
led the way with 15 points on 6/10 shooting (3/7 on 3-pointers) and was arguably the best player in a game.
Moreno, a product of Great Crossing in nearby Georgetown, racked up eight points on 4/5 shooting, four rebounds, a steal, and a block.
Noah, a native of Harlan County, scored 10 points on 3/6 shooting (2/4 on 3s).
We should also mention Reece Potter is a Kentucky native, but the former Lexington Catholic standout isn’t expected to play much this season and missed the Purdue game due to an illness.
So, we want to know which Kentucky native will have the biggest impact on the 2025-26 Wildcats. Be sure to sound off in the poll below and in the comments section!
