Cal Raleigh. Jhoan Duran.
These are the matchups that make baseball such compelling theater. It’s something that no other major sport can compare to due to the nature of their having so few one-on-one matchups during their games. Maybe an NHL shootout is close, but it doesn’t have the same flair as a one-on-one matchup like this in baseball.
It’s still strange to have such a confident feeling when a Phillies reliever enters a game, but that matchup felt over before it started last night. So much fun.
On to the links.
Phillies news:
- Hey, look who is back. Just in time for the team to use him three out of five days out of the week until the season is over.
- Rob Thomson is going to continue to give Jordan Romano opportunities this season. Doesn’t sound like a DFA is in the offing.
- Maybe Forbes should stick to worrying about money than about trying their hand at baseball analysis.
MLB news:
- MLB realignment is the topic du jour these days and the biggest takeaway: don’t do away with the National and American Leagues.
- Victor Robles got suspended for throwing a bat at a pitcher in the minor leagues. Seems appropriate for Robles.
- Looks like MLB has settled on a package for their media rights as reports are surfacing about ESPN buying MLB.tv, which would suck.
