MLB Trade Rumors | Anthony Franco: Yankees hitting coach James Rowson appears to be one of four finalists for the Twins’ vacant managerial position, per Dan Hayes and Brittany Ghiroli of The Athletic.
The other contenders are former Pirates manager Derek Shelton, Cubs bench coach Ryan Flaherty, and former Mariners manager Scott Servais. Hayes and Ghiroli speculate that Shelton and Rowson, who served as the Twins’ hitting coach and bench coach, respectively, under skippers Paul Molitor and Rocco Baldelli, may have the inside track due to their history with the organization. Rowson has been with the Yankees for the past two years, working with MLB’s top offense this season.
SNY | Robert Sanchez: Spencer Jones has been named to the 2025 All-MiLB Prospect First Team in recognition of an exemplary season split between Double-A and Triple-A. The outfielder swatted 35 homers and swiped 29 bags in just 116 games while posting a a .933 OPS. The Yankees’ number-two position player prospect is expected to be in play for a role with the big-league team in 2026. Baltimore’s Dylan Beavers and Pittsburgh’s Edward Florentino were the other outfielders to receive the honor.
MLB Trade Rumors | Darragh McDonald: An in-depth breakdown of the Yankees’ financial obligations and opportunities as they approach the offseason. McDonald provides an enumeration of current guaranteed contracts, dead money on the books, and arbitration projections. The Yankees have option decisions on Tim Hill and Jonathan Loáisiga, while Cody Bellinger is expected to opt out of his agreement and become a free agent. Bellinger will join a bevy of impending free agents, headlined by relievers Devin Williams and Luke Weaver as well as outfielder Trent Grisham. Owner Hal Steinbrenner’s budget for 2026 remains an open question, with all indications that he would prefer to stay below the $300 million threshold.
