It’s September and the Red Sox are heading to the playoffs. And yet a certain listlessness seems to have overtaken Fenway Park in recent days. With several players resting up with minor injuries while others work their way back into playing shape, it almost feels like a second spring training. The Sox aren’t charging into October so much as moseying in its general direction.
How much should this worry us? Maybe not all that much (see, e.g. tomorrow’s starting pitcher, Peyton “Momentum” Tolle). But
it’s not a ton of fun.
They’ll get back to it this afternoon behind Ranger Suárez. With Ceddanne Rafaela still on the IL, Jarren Duran makes yet another start in centerfield, while Anthony Seigler gets his first start since being recalled to replace the injured Eli White.
