With Easter just a few weeks away, La Gazzetta dello Sport is thinking that Juventus’ front office might be doing a little Easter egg hunting on the free agent market in preparations for next season.
The two names that Juve are thinking about pursuing?
That would be two of the more successful midfielders at two of the biggest clubs in Europe at the moment.
Gazzetta has identified Manchester City’s Bernardo Silva and Leon Goretzka of Bayern Munich as Juventus’ two potential Easter eggs as the sacred
holiday gets closer and closer to arriving in Italy. Both players will be free agents come the end of the season, with Juventus already reportedly having initial talks with Silva’s camp regarding a potential move and now have checked in with the German midfielder’s representation to gauge the possibility of a move. Both players are expected to leave their respective clubs at the end of the season, with multiple reports over the past week say that Silva has already let Manchester City know he will not be renewing his contract and will seek a move elsewhere.
When it comes to both players, it won’t be a cheap move regardless of there being no transfer fee. According to La Gazzetta, Bernardo Silva currently earns upward of €8 million net at Manchester City this season, while Goretzka os somewhere in the neighborhood of €7 million. So, do the math, and Juventus’ front office would need to invest a good chunk of money (on top of all of the ancillary fees that come with a move like this) if they were to bring either of these very good and very experienced midfielders to Turin at some point over the next few months.
Gazzetta adds that Juventus would likely have plenty of competition if they were to get in the race to bring either Bernardo Silva or Goretzka in for the 2026-27 season, with the former being linked to potential moves back to his homeland in Portugal, to the United States and Major League Soccer as well as Saudi Arabia. Both players have also been linked with Inter Milan because, well, we all know Beppe Marotta loves a free transfer for a quality player more than anybody currently in the roster construction game.
Who knows what the chances might be to actually sign two players who have won a whole lot of silverware over the course of their respective careers, but for a club like Juventus that is lacking that kind of profile on its roster, it certainly would be a huge boon to the look of next season’s roster. At the very least, it’s a refreshing development knowing that this club has lacked qualities that both players would bring over these last few years.
