It’s game time in Hollywood!
The Hawkeyes are in LA to take on the USC Trojans as they look to pull even against the former PAC-12. While southern California is known for its sunshine, things are much gloomier
in glam town today as LA has been drenched over the last 24 hours.
That’s nothing new for Iowa after taking Oregon down to the wire in the rain a week ago. Now the question is whether the Hawkeyes can bounce back from that 18-16 loss to the Ducks and push beyond their College Football Playoff hopes toward the rest of their season goals.
Standing between the team and those goals is a talented USC team that boasts one of the top offenses in the country. The Trojans are led by the Big Ten’s leading passer in QB Jayden Maiava and he has an array of weapons that includes potential first round WR Makai Lemon.
But as potent as the Trojan offense is, USC is very middle of the pack nationally on defense, most notably in stopping the run. Iowa, of course, would love to establish the run early and often, playing ball control offense and limit possessions for that USC offense.
Will Iowa be able to get the offense rolling and keep the Trojan weapons on the sideline? Or will USC speed things up and put the Hawkeyes on their heels? We’ll have our answers soon enough as Iowa and USC square off from the LA Coliseum!
