The yo-yo continues! The staff winning percentage has bounced from 67% to 43% back to 69% the last 3 weeks. Hopefully, that does not suggest we hit full on rock bottom with something like a 35% hit rate in Week 12. The Week 11 successes were led by Import and Andrew, which makes sense as they have been the overall leaders for a while. Cole, Tom, and I followed up at 4-2 to boost all of our winning percentages for the season. The Commentariat and Christian both were flat at 3-3. No one was worse than
that to pull down the group’s percentage.
In a week with 1 unanimous pick, 4 games where the split was 4-1, and 1 even split, it was setup for weirdness in one way or another. The only game with the majority being incorrect was BYU-Texas Tech where it seemed odd that BYU was a 10.5-point underdog, but they lost by 22 to make the bookees look smart while only Tom got it right amongst our group. Of course, we split Florida-Kentucky since it was a 3-3 split to start. Every other game had at least 4 people on the right side, and the unanimous pick of Alabama beating LSU by more than 9.5 came true.
This week has a little more division but not too much. On a weekend where Vanderbilt is off, the matchups are 6 SEC-SEC games, 1 SEC-CUSA game, and the Dealer’s choice is Independent/ACC-ACC. There is not a game where everyone agreed. There are 3 games where only 1 person stepped out of line. Of the remaining 5 games, all of them have a majority on one side, so there are not any even splits for the upcoming slate.
The Rules
- Normally, the picks are for all SEC games with one dealer’s choice where I get to choose another game to make us pick.
- The picks will be made AGAINST THE SPREAD. Too many games are easy to pick heads up. Also, this will serve as a PSA for why you should not get into sports gambling, which is especially important with sports gambling being legal in Tennessee now.
- The lines will be taken from FanDuel, who SB Nation has partnered with this season, some time Monday, so they may not match what is listed at the time this article is published. I may also use a backup for FBS-FCS matchups if the line is available elsewhere when I get the spreads.
