TNT champion Kevin Knight was scheduled to face his former friend and JetSpeed tag partner Speedball Mike Bailey tonight (June 3) on Dynamite, but he had some news for us first. Well, actually, his new manager did.
Don Callis’ ominious music hit to cut off another member of his Family, Andrade El Ídolo, who was again trying to get AEW World champion Maxwell Jacob Friedman to accept his challenge. Callis was there to introduce one of Andrade’s teammates (for now) in the next match. It turns out, that
was his newest client… Knight.
It paid off quickly for the TNT champ. Knight was struggling to put Bailey away in their match, and momentum had even swing Speedball’s way when recently returned from injury Callis Family-member Jake Doyle distracted the referee, allowing Don to get involved and slow the challenger’s roll.
And after Callis did that, the champ was able to finish his ex-partner off — and then issue his own call for a shot at MJF’s belt.
The weak spot remaining in Knight’s game is his mic work, and working with Callis is a good way to share the load in that area while the 29-year-old gets more comfortable on the stick. He can also learn from some of his new brothers. By my accounting, the TNT champ now has 14 of them:
- Kyle Fletcher
- Trent Beretta
- Lance Archer
- Brian Cage
- Mark Davis
- Josh Alexander
- Rocky Romero
- Hechicero
- Kazuchika Okada
- Wardlow
- Andrade El Ídolo
- El Clon
- Jake Doyle
- Volador Jr.
