The Jets made a pair of transactions on Wednesday.
Special teams ace Irv Charles was traded to the Seattle Seahawks in exchange for a conditional seventh round pick.
Charles was one of the Jets’ top special teams performers in 2023 and 2024. He, however, suffered a torn ACL in late 2024 which prevented him from playing in the 2025 season. It seems like
his path to a roster spot was completely closed off going forward which led the Jets to make this trade.
The Jets also signed a veteran kicker, Younghoe Koo.
The Jets are looking for a Nick Folk replacement after the veteran signed with the Atlanta Falcons early in the offseason. Koo will get a shot to earn the job in training camp and the preseason. It isn’t a lock that the eventual kicker is currently on the roster at this point, though. Folk didn’t sign with the Jets last season until training camp had begun.
