Bayern Munich board member for sport Max Eberl is an optimistic guy.
After the last international break, Eberl is feeling pretty darn good about how the German national team is looking and will not doubt the squad’s ability of wining the 2026 FIFA World Cup in North America this summer.
“If the core of our Bayern players remains stable, Jamal returns, Florian Wirtz finds his best form, and Nick Woltemade continues to develop in attack, then I wouldn’t rule out us being able to compete for the title.
But France remains my top favourite. Furthermore, England are currently having a very good run,” Eberl told Sport Bild’s Henning Feindt, Christian Falk, and Tobi Altschäffl (as captured by @iMiaSanMia).
Germany certainly looked better under Julian Nagelsmann in the most recent international break, but it still seems as if Die Mannschaft is a bit behind some of the favorites like Spain, France, or England. If, however, Germany can continue to make progress, who knows? Maybe Eberl will be repaid for his optimism.
