According to a report from Tz journalist Philipp Kessler (as captured by @iMiaSanMia), Bayern Munich will have quite a few youngsters on its bench against Mainz 05, including at least one that has not featured for the senior team before:
U17 striker Bastian Assomo (born 2010) is included in the senior squad for the first time against Mainz today
Filip Pavić, Deniz Ofli and Bara Sapoko Ndiaye are also in the squad @kessler_philipp
Bayern Munich head coach Vincent Kompany insisted that he would just not
punt this game against Mainz 05 and that it would not just be a case where he lets a bunch of kids go out and take their lumps against Die Nullfünfer.
It still looks like it could be a mix of regulars and subs early on, but as the game gets closer to the end, we could see Kompany lean on those youngster to eat up minutes. The shame of the situation is that so many young players (Lennart Karl, Tom Bischof, David Santos Daiber, Cassiano Kiala, Maycon Cardozo, Wisdom Mike) are out of action at the moment.
