There were a lot of comments at some point in the past eleven months or so that said something like, “Who cares about xyz, you’ll do it for a chance to lose to the Dodgers in October…” Well, it’s October, and… only the Braves lost to the Dodgers therein. Every other team either lost to someone else, didn’t make the postseason, or has their season still ongoing.
It’s fitting, perhaps, that with the Dodgers eliminated, none of the remaining teams still “in it” have a payroll in baseball’s top half.
The Brewers are 20th (19th by luxury tax balance), the Guardians are dead last (29th), and the Rays are 28th (27th). So much for that narrative surviving the spin cycle that is MLB trying to shoehorn a short series playoff format onto this sport and league.
But, all of that doesn’t mean you don’t have feelings about the Dodgers bowing out. (Or, getting steamed out like a rug stain.) So, if you do, what are they?
