Oba Femi found himself outnumbered by The Vision on the latest episode of Raw (September 7), which resulted in him being on the received end of spears and tsunamis courtesy of Bron Breakker and Bronson Reed.
The altercation followed Reed’s not-s0-surprising return
at Sunday Night’s Main Event (September 6), where he was part of run-in by fellow members of The Vision during a match between Breakker and Femi.But for all the drama between The Vision and Femi, it was a moment after the match clipped for social
media that’s had fans talking in recent days.
In the videos making the rounds, the members of The Vision stand over a prone Femi following the beatdown on Raw. Reed then goes for a trophy pose by putting his foot on Femi’s back, but the Nigerian big man reacted angrily.
Femi then appeared to go off script by forcefully pushing away Reed’s foot.
The incident has caused a debate online with some arguing that Reed took liberties with Oba by attempting the pose, while others argued that Femi should have laid still and sold it instead of breaking character.
“Bronson Reed 100% went off script and tried to do what Oba Femi had permission to do with Brock Lesnar after standing tall….put his foot on him. Oba Femi was having none of it and made Reed immediately take his foot off,” X user Jay Henry wrote.
“Zero professionalism from Oba,” another X user said, in part. “Nobody is trying to disrespect or bury you.. obviously you are the BIGGEST STAR right now..but you gotta let other people shine too so their light makes you shine the brightest.”
Another fan posted: “Bronson had ankle surgery. This off script moment could have legit injured Bronson. F&%^ Oba for no selling that moment. Oba could lose his opportunity to be the top guy of WWE.”
Some fans, though, didn’t have a problem with the foot shove and thought it made sense for Oba’s character.
“Am I the only one who thought it was within the realm of kayfabe? He’s The Ruler, yes he got beatdown but he had enough fight in him to deny another man trying to ‘conquer’ him,” read a comment expressing this view.
The X account under the username DirtyDomDom drew a parallel between the incident and when Femi did a similar pose on Brock Lesnar during their feud.
“During the WrestleMania feud between Brock Lesnar and Oba Femi, Brock told Oba to put his foot on him and take his moment,” the post read. “But when Bronson Reed did the same thing and put his foot on Oba… Oba immediately pushed it away. Brock gave Oba his moment. Bronson tried to take it.”
