After one last unsigned draft pick agreed to terms at Gillette Stadium, another roster move loomed to make room.
The New England Patriots opened a 91-man spot on Sunday by placing wide receiver Jeremiah Webb on injured reserve. Barring an injury settlement at a later date, the transaction ends the sophomore’s campaign just two practices into training camp.
Webb, 25, entered the NFL as part of New England’s 2025 undrafted class. After catching six passes for 80 yards and one touchdown during his rookie
preseason, the 5-foot-11, 198-pound wideout and returner was waived at the 53-man roster deadline last August. He went through the league wire unclaimed and proceeded to join the organization’s practice squad at its formation.
From there, Webb served as an inactive standard elevation for January’s wild card versus the Los Angeles Chargers and reached a futures contract in February. The former transfer from South Dakota to South Alabama now no longer counts against the club’s active limit.
In a precursor on Sunday, the Patriots announced the signing of outside linebacker Gabe Jacas, the No. 55 overall pick in the 2026 class, to his four-year, $8.6 million rookie contract. Yet to practice, the Illinois product has since been moved to the active/non-football injury list alongside running back Terrell Jennings and special teams captain Brenden Schooler.
All three on the NFI list are eligible to begin practicing at any point during training camp. The same holds true for tight end C.J. Dippre and veteran edge Harold Landry III, who currently reside on New England’s physically unable to perform.
The team will hold a walkthrough at 10 a.m. ET on Monday.
