The Wisconsin Badgers lost their second player to the transfer portal on Thursday, as former four-star wide receiver Kyan Berry-Johnson announced his intentions to leave the program with three years of
eligibility left.
Berry-Johnson, a native of Illinois, was considered a quality slot receiver coming out of high school, but was undersized. He put on weight and flashed in spring ball as a true freshman, but was working in a crowded room behind Will Pauling and Trech Kekahuna.
Still, with some injuries, he was able to see the field a bit, playing in three games as a true freshman. As a redshirt freshman, there was an opportunity for Berry-Johnson to crack the field in the slot rotation this season.
However, he fell behind seniors Tyrell Henry and Dekel Crowdus, while true freshman Eugene Hilton lapped him in the rotation as well.
Now, Berry-Johnson will seek other opportunities with three years of eligibility left.
He joins walk-on linebacker Cody Raymond as the first two Badgers to enter the transfer portal.
