Beyond the ‘giggles’ and the jovial personality his new New York Giants teammates rave about, James Winston embraces everything that comes with playing quarterback in the NFL.
The former Heisman Trophy winner is knowledgeable. He’s very serious when he needs to be serious, but at the same time he has a light energy about him, a calming essence both on and off the field. There’s also an accountability factor that Winston brings to the practice field and the classroom. He’s unafraid to call teammates out for not carrying out assignments or, say, for dropping passes, even on air during walkthroughs.

22. Isaiah Likely, New York Giants. Following an impressive four seasons as essentially the Ravens’ No. 2 tight end behind Mark Andrews, Likely followed head coach John Harbaugh to the Giants and will get his first real chance at being a starter. It was a rough 2025 season for Likely, as he missed three games due to a broken foot and registered a career-low 56.4 PFF grade. But in 2024, he placed seventh among all tight ends with 10 forced missed tackles, and his 75.6 PFF grade was sixth.
32. Theo Johnson, New York Giants. With Isaiah Likely joining the Giants, Johnson will likely get demoted to being New York’s No. 2 tight end. He was a worthy pass-catcher when he did start for the Giants last year, placing 19th with 528 receiving yards. Johnson’s five touchdown catches tied for 13th in the NFL, too.

The NFL cliché is that no player’s job is safe after a regime change.
Sometimes a new coach — especially one with final say over the roster, such as the Giants’ John Harbaugh — wants to send a message. Other times he just doesn’t care about an inherited hefty contract or high draft status that might have been saving a player on the bubble in the past.

The Giants need their prized quarterback, Jaxson Dart, to take the next step in Year 2, as coach John Harbaugh debuts in East Rutherford. And legendary former Giants quarterback Phil Simms thinks that will indeed happen.
“I studied him a lot in college. As a pro — I watched him practice during the summer and play — and I just went, ‘Wow. This guy is a lot better than I thought.’ It caught me by surprise,” Simms said. “He really has the team in the palm of his hand. They all like him, they all know he’s really good, and he just has a way about him.”

5. New York Giants: Sonny Styles, LB (original selection: Arvell Reese). With Reese drafted by the Cardinals in this scenario, Sonny Styles becomes the straightforward selection for the New York Giants. In fact, with the Giants deciding to keep Reese at linebacker, you could argue choosing Styles, the more natural linebacker of the two, would have made more sense. John Harbaugh’s defense still lands a flexible front-seven defender.
10. New York Giants: Caleb Downs, S (original selection: Francis Mauigoa). We don’t necessarily have an issue with the Giants’ selection of Francis Mauigoa here, but safety Caleb Downs was the better overall prospect. Plus, knowing what we now know, keeping Downs away from their division rival Dallas Cowboys is a sweetener. If this scenario came to fruition, the Giants would feel inclined to sign a veteran starting guard like Kevin Zeitler.

10. Darnell Mooney, New York Giants WR. Amid a disappointing 2024 for the Falcons, Mooney quietly impressed with 64 catches for 992 yards and five touchdowns while averaging a career-best 15.5 yards per catch — the seventh-highest mark in the league. Mooney dealt with lingering injuries in 2025, though, and finished with just 32 catches. The Giants would love to see him get back to his 2024 form, when he showed a well-rounded skill set that hadn’t been on display earlier in his career.
30. DJ Reader, New York Giants DT. For all the excitement surrounding Year 1 of John Harbaugh, Year 2 of Jaxson Dart and two first-round picks, the Giants still need to figure out a way to stop getting run all over; last year, they allowed an NFL-worst 5.3 yards per carry. They traded Dexter Lawrence away and didn’t find a replacement in the draft. Instead, the interior of the defensive line features Reader and other veterans.
