Luis Díaz’s transfer from Liverpool FC to Bayern Munich was seen as one of the most dubious transfers of the 2025 summer transfer window, primarily because Bayern signed a guy who is in his prime years, will likely not get any better than he is now and could struggle with age related decline in the next years. None of that will be disproven within the next few months. But perhaps those critical of the transfer may have underestimated and undervalued just how much the Colombian winger could bring
Bayern during his current prime years.
In 10 games, the former FC Porto winger has six goals and four assists. But that is far from all he brings. When asked about Diaz’s hot start, head coach Vincent Kompany did not even have to mention the goal contributions to highlight his brilliance: “Considering that this is his first season and his first steps in Germany, he’s been impressive. His activity and energy fit very well into the team. He’s always involved, always there,” Kompany emphasized, as captured by @iMiaSanMia. “He works very hard for the team. There’s no pressure from me on Luis Díaz, I’m not asking him to do things the others are not doing. But as I said his energy suits this team very well.”
Plenty has been said about the transfer, about the players he is replacing and other potential targets. But, in his first few months at the club, he has brought a lot of what the club has been missing: A hard working, goal scoring presence on the left. Despite not being the first choice target, he has clearly been a help for the Bavarians. He and Kompany have that in common. It may be far too early to make a verdict on the transfer as a whole, but the first few months have been a success.
Bayern Munich’s away match against Eintracht Frankfurt in the Bundesliga had all the makings of a dreaded trap game.
The Bavarians were scorching hot, entering a break, and playing against a desperate team coming off of a midweek embarrassment in the Champions League. Everything was lined up for a letdown…until it wasn’t.
Bayern Munich kept up its intensity and did not let anything distract it from the main goal — securing a win. The Bavarians did just that in a 3-0 victory. Let’s get into the nitty gritty of the match. Check out what we have on tap for this edition of the Bavarian Podcast Works — Postgame Show:
