With Chelsea Women’s foot firmly set on the gas pedal, the Blues left no space for the hosts at West Ham to overtake them. It was an extremely positive start with the visitors locking the Hammers into their half and not letting them out under any circumstances.
Once again we were plagued by extremely bad aim at goal. When we finally got a shot on target, Melvine Malard opened the scoring for the Blues.
As the draw to Aston Villa to begin the season showed you can only go far with one-goal leads in a league
where things can fall apart in the blink of an eye. West Ham weren’t very interesting in attacking any spaces we left for them, but that didn’t mean they’d stay passive until the final whistle.
Failing to score more goals against a side seemingly refusing to take any risks would be a mistake on our part. Keira Walsh and Maika Hamano were there to make sure that wouldn’t happen.
Carefree!
- Maika Hamano starts.
- Melvine Malard with a true striker’s strike to score our first goal.
- Complete West Ham shutdown. Props to the Blues on this one.
- Next up: Tottenham at home in the Women’s Super League
- KTBFFH!
