Bayern Munich youngster Maycon Cardozo is having himself a preseason. The winger prospect is a candidate for loan, with no shortage of interest thanks to his performances, but also may have a shot to stay in Bavaria and feature for Vincent Kompany.
That appears to be where he wants to be, per a report from Sky Germany journalist Kerry Hau, as captured by @iMiaSanMia:

Cardozo played just a handful of times for the Bayern seniors last season — two Bundesliga substitute appearances, 34 minutes in total. He’s still just 17. But he plays with a maturity that belies his years, and he has impressed in Bayern’s preseason friendlies so far, being a threatening presence against Jeju SK and having an absolute ball against FC Rottach-Egern.
Yes, it was just Rottach-Egern. But this was a player who went the distance and looked very much ready for the next step — not because of anything flashy he did but precisely because of his consistent composure. Let’s take a closer look at just how often he pops up in the goals highlights from that one:
Bayern’s second goal of the match. Takes on his defender, dribbles halfway down the length of the pitch. Sends the ball in for a tap-in goal.
First goal of his own for the day. Receives the switch with great first touch, doesn’t go for the low-threat underlapping run but instead holds and draws defenders near him before calmly releasing to an outlet at the top of the box. Then stays alive to get on the other end of the give-and-goal inside the box for the goal. Confident finish, too.
Just a fun one. Pops up central and unmarked for an open header after a corner. Cardozo is 5’5.
Presses on the back-pass forcing an error, stays to collect the pieces on a loose touch. Just about gets there in time to poke it onwards to keep the transition alive, and the next pass leads to goal.
Surging down the line to receive in acres of space, then with no runners arriving central or far post in the box, hits his cross all the way across the field to keep the action going. Probably the best option, and it still results in a goal once Bayern reinforcements arrive centrally.
Hovering in the box to receive, first time layoff for Kimmich to run onto and shoot. Really satisfying assist.
Holds the width, freezes his man to drive inside and finds Kimmich to continue the play.
In every action, Cardozo wasted little movement and scarcely made a wrong or hesitant decision. It was a friendly against lower competition, sure, but still a professional performance for a player looking poised to rise through the professional ranks. Hopefully, there will be some senior-level highlights to enjoy for the young Brazilian soon.
