The Giants surprise some good teams. They might not be a perfect team, but there is enough talent to beat some top competition. Heck, they got wins over the Cowboys and Eagles last year with Dart at quarterback, so they’re capable. The Giants have a quarterback in Dart who can make special plays. They have a No. 1 receiver in Malik Nabers. They (finally) have a good offensive
line and a power running game that should be effective. And when they have a lead, the pass rush led by Brian Burns and Abdul Carter can do damage. The Giants are going to upset quality teams this season and be in the playoff race come December.

New York Giants: Can Jaxson Dart relearn how to play the position? After playing almost his entire college career in shotgun, Dart played in an offense that ranked sixth in shotgun usage (76.5 percent) as a rookie. New offensive coordinator Matt Nagy will ask him to play under center a lot more than he has. In the preseason, the Giants offense was only in shotgun on 46.6 percent of snaps, indicating they’ll be under center more than in the gun. Dart will have to relearn footwork and timing in Nagy’s offense. Also, quarterback option plays are being phased out of the league because teams are just too good at defending them, and it’s not worth putting the quarterback at risk without getting explosive plays in return. There might be growing pains for Dart, but they’ll be necessary for career longevity.

The Giants practiced fast and hard this summer, both at their New Jersey facility and at The Greenbrier in West Virginia, and most practices were held in the afternoon. Why? Because that’s when the games are played.
“I think it was kind of needed that we do those afternoons and make sure we get in that temperature, make sure we’re conditioning ourselves and getting used to playing one o’clock games,” said linebacker Micah McFadden. “I think we were just kind of priming our bodies, making sure we’re in the right type of shape, the way the coaches want us to be. And then by this time we’re ready for whatever may come.”

Josina Anderson of Exhibit News Network reports that three teams already have reached out to Slayton’s representation for preliminary discussions. Anderson also mentioned the Colts as a potential destination, given Slayton’s relationship with quarterback Daniel Jones.
