Pre-Match
First Half
Liverpool haven’t started terribly? Isak created two decent chances in the opening 10 minutes, which is more
than he’s shown so far in Red.
Well, never mind. Liverpool are forced to make an early sub after Jeremie Frimpong limps off with a hamstring injury. Cooooool. He’s replaced by Bradley.
And from bad to worse. Liverpool once again concede first. And once again concede from the opponent’s first shot. Great stuff.
Liverpool equalize! It’s a brilliant counter from Ekitike, who was played through on goal by Robbo and scores against his former club. Game on!
A moment later Virgil nods home a corner! Normal service resumed? Please?
And a few minutes later, they let Konate score from a corner. A headed corner! Ibou Konate!
Second Half
Slot makes a halftime sub, bringing Isak off for Federico Chiesa. Fede almost scores straight away with an audatious attempt. Love that guy.
Gakpo extends the lead with a tap in at the back post! And Wirtz finally gets his first Liverpool assist (i.e. his teammates actually finished their lunch for once). A few minutes later Dom adds to the party, with a long effort from range. Also another assist for Wirtz!
Salah, Mac Allister, and Gomez come on for Gakpo, Ekitike, and Konate. I’m sure Mo will want to get in on the action.
Final Thoughts
So, that was fun. Nice that Liverpool actually “scored more goals” than their opponents this time. That means we…won? I think that means we won. I don’t know, it’s been a hot minute. Anyway, the “win” takes us up to 10th in the Champions League.
