The Detroit Lions and New York Jets face off on Sunday afternoon for a big game between 1-1 teams.
The Jets are hoping to prove their early-season success is for real and tally the first marquee win under head coach Aaron Glenn. It would be big emotional win for Glenn for it to come against a coach who has meant so much to his career.
“Really good friend, really good person. That friendship will always last,” Glenn said of Lions coach Dan Campbell this week.
It’s less emotions and all business on Detroit’s
side. After a particularly concerning loss against the Buffalo Bills, Detroit needs to right the ship before it’s too late. The problems have compounded in the secondary, where the Lions already have four safeties on injury lists: Brian Branch (PUP), Kerby Joseph (PUP), Avonte Maddox (IR), and Thomas Harper (IR). This week, they’ll start Chuck Clark and Christian Izien on the back end in the hopes they can prevent Geno Smith from lighting up Ford Field—as he has done several times in the past.
