Carlos Prates nearly found himself in a brawl earlier this week after getting involved with a fighter during the Core FC 2 event on Thursday (Dec. 11, 2025) in Istanbul, Turkey.
The full details are unknown at this time, but it all started during a main event clash between Erdem Taha Dincer and Mavlud Tupiev. It was all Tupiev in the early going before he tired and allowed Dincer to regain some momentum in the third round. During an exchange near the cage, Dincer inadvertently landed an illegal soccer
kick to the head. The strike certainly connected, but it didn’t appear to do fight-ending damage. Tupiev was eventually deemed too hurt to continue fighting and ended up winning via disqualification.
Prates, who was front and center for the main event throwdown, didn’t appreciate Tupiev’s unwillingness to push through the illegal strike and finish the fight. That’s when the UFC fighter decided to start talking trash from outside the cage. Tupiev took immediate offense and tried to exit the cage to confront the Brazilian in the stands. Both fighters were held back before Prates was ushered out of the arena to avoid any real chaos.
It’s weird to see Prates pop up at a random MMA event in Turkey, but it’s an even more strange to see him nearly throw hands with someone who just fought over a silly DQ. Prates simply called bulls—t when he smelled it and it almost cost him.
“That guy give up the fight and said he couldn’t fight because an easy illegal kick,” wrote Prates via IG. “And 1 minute after get mad with me and try to fight me. Luckily for him, security don’t let us fight, piece of s—t. Stop giving up when you start winning and getting tired bro.”
