With the World Cup entering into its final rounds this week and pre-season on the horizon, another season of club football is drawing near and for Liverpool there remains a quite worrying amount of work to do, with last season’s already rather thin and unbalanced squad having lost a pair of legends in Mohamed Salah and Andy Robertson but so far only having made one new signing in winger Victor Muñoz.
Whether or not Liverpool are ready for it, though—and at the moment they very much appear not to be,
with question marks around sporting director Richard Hughes only growing in his third summer in charge—the days are passing quickly. And with the inevitable passing time comes news that new head coach Andoni Iraola will speak to the press for the first time on Monday ahead of the start of pre-season proper.
The club have confirmed that Iraola will meet with the press for the first time as Liverpool boss at 11AM BST on Monday, while at least 19 first team (or first team adjacent) players are expected to be in the mix for the new head coach to put through their paces. The rest will follow after they get their post-World Cup breaks—and hopefully they’ll be joined by a few new signings in time for Iraola to integrate them.
Goalkeepers Giorgi Mamardashvili, Freddie Woodman, and Armin Pecsi; defenders Joe Gomez, Giovanni Leoni, Jeremy Jacquet, Milos Kerkez, Kostas Tsimikas, Jeremie Frimpong, and Calvin Ramsay; midfielders Dominik Szoboszlai, Curtis Jones, Harvey Elliott, Trey Nyoni, Stefan Bajcetic, and James McConnell; and forwards Federico Chiesa, Rio Ngumoha, and Jayden Danns are scheduled to be on hand.
