Ahead of a top four showdown with Eintracht Frankfurt before the international break, Bayern Munich will travel to the island of Cyprus for a Champions League duel with Pafos FC. Vincent Kompany’s unit struggled on the road last year but will have an opportunity to pad their goal differential stat.
Bayern has defeated
all six Cypriot clubs in the past but this will be the first meeting with Pafos, who was founded in 2014.
In an improbable run to the League phase, Pafos defeated Maccabi Tel Aviv, Dynamo Kyiv, and Red Star Belgrade in the double-legged qualifying rounds. Despite being reduced to 10 men in the 25th minute, Pafos also held Olympiacos to a scoreless draw earlier this month.
Team News
Here is the predicted lineup, courtesy of BFW:

Vincent Kompany has zero plans to underestimate Pafos and is determined to win every Champions League match until Bayern clinches a top eight finish in the League phase. Joshua Kimmich and Aleksandar Pavlović were both rested over the weekend. The club is being patient with Kim Min-jae’s calf injury, especially with a healthy pairing available with Dayot Upamecano and Jonathan Tah.
Konrad Laimer’s switch to the left back has improved the play of Luis Díaz. Lennart Karl should replace Serge Gnabry in the second half, moving Michael Olise to the CAM position. Harry Kane can score his routine brace and make way for Nicolas Jackson. This would also be a prime opportunity for Cassiano Kiala to earn some late minutes at center back.
From an injury standpoint, Bayern will be without the services of Jamal Musiala, Alphonso Davies, Hiroki Itō, Josip Stanišić and Jonas Urbig.
Under third year manager Juan Carlos Carcedo, Pafos plays with four defenders but alternates the midfield and attacking positions. Carcedo has built a veteran squad that will be very disciplined in the low block.
Bayern Munich is off to Cyprus for a Champions League tilt against Pafos FC.
The Bavarians are big favorites and looking to stay red-hot behind the scorching play from Harry Kane. This Bayern Munich squad has a certain look to it. The team’s focus and relentlessness is unquestioned and Vincent Kompany seems to have a magic touch on all of his moves at the moment.
