The Falcons are set to sign another linebacker, but this one is more of a special teams addition than a defensive one.
Channing Tindall, who spent last season with Arizona and the three prior to that with Miami, has taken at least 50% of his team’s special teams snaps over the past three seasons. He had five special teams tackles in seven games this past season, which was sixth on Arizona despite Tindall playing significantly fewer snaps than the five guys ahead of him. As he bounced between the practice
squad and roster, Tindall had just four defensive snaps, but over 100 on teams.
You should see more of these kinds of signings, as the Falcons were disastrously bad on special teams in 2025, including some embarrassing efforts covering kicks and punts alike. Tindall’s history to this point suggests a sure-tackling option with good instincts on special teams, and the Falcons need that.
If the Falcons are envisioning him having a larger role on defense, we’ll have to see it. Tindall played linebacker and came off the edge at times at Georgia, and is a good enough athlete for Jeff Ulbrich to take a longer look at in a slightly larger role, especially if the Falcons don’t make any major additions at the position group. Right now, though, I’d pencil him in as summer competition for the fourth inside linebacker role and a prominent role on coverage units if he does make the team.
Give him a warm welcome, if you would.
