Well, this is interesting: Duke has struck a deal with Amazon to air three games on Prime. Amazon will broadcast carry the UConn game in Las Vegas on November 25, Michigan in the Garden on December 21, and Gonzaga in Detroit on February 20.
According to ESPN, this includes significant NIL opportunities for the players and is part of a bigger deal, a “broader retail partnership expected to be announced at a later date.”
Obviously, this reflects the changing landscape of college basketball, and Duke
remains one of the programs that’s figuring things out and innovating in intelligent nd creative ways.
It’s getting a bit hard to keep up, though. Most, but not all Duke fans probably use Amazon Prime, but with games now on multiple networks and services, there will come a point when you’ll have to decide whether you want to subscribe to a service to get a particular game.
This actually happened last to us last year with one game. We did a trial subscription to watch it, then tried to cancel (pro tip: sometimes they make canceling much more difficult than subscribing, so if you have an iPhone, use that to start your subscription. It’s much easier to cancel there than it is to poke around a dodgy service trying to find the cancel option).
Anyway, these are all really good games, and as noted, most Duke fans probably use Prime, so no biggie here.
It looks like Jon Scheyer is putting together another tremendous schedule.
