Good morning Gang Green Nation! Yesterday Oregon quarterback Dante Moore chose to return to school rather than enter the 2026 NFL draft. This decision has major implications for the New York Jets. The Jets were widely considered likely to draft Moore with the second overall pick in the draft if Moore was available. Now the Jets will need to find a starting quarterback elsewhwere. In addition, if the Jets didn’t like Moore, there was a chance some other team would covet him and offer the Jets a draft bounty
to trade up for him. That possibility no longer exists. There aren’t any other obvious quarterbacks who would be in consideration at pick #2. This presents something of a quandary for the Jets, as they probably won’t be able to trade the #2 pick for a big haul, and this draft appears to be lacking in can’t miss talent at positions of great value. We’ll see how this situation evolves, but for now Moore returning to school is a fairly significant blow to the Jets’ draft value, even if they had no intention of selecting him.
