Paris Saint-Germain and Atlético de Madrid have been in talks for a while over various players. And while Julián Álvarez is not the French club’s main target, it’s not someone they have given up pursuing, according to a new report.
It’s no secret that FC Barcelona remains the Argentine’s #1 destination. It’s also true that Los Colchoneros are not ready to let him go to a league rival, at least not yet, and at least not for what the Catalans have offered.
Atlético are interested in signing PSG’s Kang-in
Lee, whose said to be liked by Mateu Alemany, Atléti’s current director who was previously Barcelona’s man in charge. Reportedly, PSG wanted Álvarez to go the opposite way. But the forward, currently with Argentina for the FIFA World Cup, turned them down in favor of waiting for Barça to strike a deal.
PSG are not desperate to sign him, even though they like him. And, it’s said that their main target could be RB Leipzig’s Yan Diomande instead.
But if Barcelona ultimately fail to get Álvarez, PSG will be ready to pounce. Reports say Paris was not too impressed that he rebuffed them and only wanted Barça, but they also say that PSG are willing to wait and pounce if Barcelona cannot meet Atlético’s demands.
