When WWE first entered into business with Netflix, the expectation was that the wrestling promotion’s programming would see little to no censorship. However, the streaming giant has instead edited the content of WWE multiple times, and its replay of Money in the Bank is no exception.
During the marquee matchup between LA Knight and Roman Reigns, the challenger flipped the bird at the WWE World Heavyweight Champion. But some eagle-eyed viewers have since noticed that Netflix edited the footage to use
a different camera where Knight’s middle finger is obscured by Roman’s body.
Both Fightful and Chris Van Vliet shared back-to-back comparisons of the original footage with Netflix’s new edit.
The edit is just the latest exampleof Netflix cleaning up WWE programming. In fact, it’s not even the first time Netflix has removed footage of people being flipped off. In July, a replay of Raw omitted a moment of Brock Lesnar and Oba Femi giving each other the middle finger.
There have also been multiple instances of wrestlers being pixelated to make blood less visible, and obscenities and sexually suggestive material have been bleeped.
Perhaps one of the most notorious moments of Netflix censoring WWE came when footage of Jacob Fatu being run over by a car driven by Jaida Parker on the September 27th episode of Raw was excised from the replay.
