The Chicago Bears and the Atlanta Falcons have released their game-day injury reports, and there’s good news for both starting quarterbacks. Chicago’s Caleb Williams (hamstring) logged a third straight full practice, while Atlanta’s Michael Penix Jr. also practiced fully all week after leaving his last game with a rib injury.
However, the Bears list Williams as questionable, while Penix has no injury designation for Sunday’s game and is expected to start.
At his pre-practice press conference, head
coach Ben Johnson didn’t address whether Williams was starting or not, and he said, “I’m hopeful we’ll have more clarity at the end of the day today. He (Williams) looked good yesterday for one practice, but we’ve got to be able to stack a few back to back.”
Assuming there were no setbacks, and given the full practice, Williams seems in line to start, but they’ll have a walk-through tomorrow to make sure there are no lingering effects from the injury.
Also questionable for the Bears are corners Tyrique Stevenson (hip) and Kyler Gordon (calf), who is still on the PUP list. Stevenson was limited all week, while Gordon was full. If Gordon isn’t activated for Atlanta’s game, he’ll need to be activated next week when his 21-day practice window expires.
The Bears have ruled out linebackers T.J. Edwards (hamstring) and Keyshaun Elliott (quadricep), running back Kyle Monangai (thumb/toe), and defensive lineman Dayo Odeyingbo (quadricep),
Johnson also said there’s a chance that left tackle Ozzy Trapilo could make his season debut on Sunday, adding, “We think he’s really close.”
The Falcons only have two players on their injury report: starting cornerback C.J. Henderson (groin) is out, and veteran defensive end Za’Darius Smith (neck) is questionable and was limited at today’s practice.
