The Buffalo Bills lead the New York Jets 20-3 at the half. Buffalo has played dominant yet slightly flat football through 30 minutes, controlling the line of scrimmage while offering the Jets a physical counter to their own dominant defensive ways. Just as it looked like the Bills would give up more points to the Jets as the half came to a close, the defense stiffened just enough to force a punt that allowed Buffalo to kneel the half out on offense.
The Bills and quarterback Josh Allen have struggled
a bit to get things going through the air, instead finding most of their success on the ground. Running back James Cook is running like a man on a mission, perhaps hoping to set a new Bills rushing touchdown total in 2025. His 44-yard touchdown run was a thing of beauty amid a rushing charge that levied 146 yards on the Jets before hitting the locker room break.
The halftime lead may have given the Bills just enough of a cushion they need while trying to figure out the passing concerns, which includes managing Allen’s nose injury. It’s been Buffalo’s tight ends who’ve seen the most action as receivers, with eight targets between both Dalton Kincaid and Dawson Knox.
The Bills have played really well on defense, giving the Jets little time and room to make hay in the passing game. In his return to action with Buffalo, cornerback Tre’Davious White has played solid, tough football, and he’s excelled as a tackler both in space and in pursuit.
Kicker Matt Prater continues to shine, confidently booting kicks of all varieties — now it comes down to the coverage team clamping down any return yards in the second half. The Bills take the football out of the locker room, having won the opening toss and deferring to begin the game.
Lest we forget… how ‘bout that play and throw by quarterback Mitch Trubisky? No one saw that coming. Here’s your open thread for the remainder of today’s game. As always, be kind to one another, and in all things… Go Bills!
