Don’t you love alliteration.
It spices up any phrase. Lucky for us, I’ve managed to find another word that starts with Q for this weekly piece that’ll feature our takes on the coming college football slate. And what a word it is! Our picks will definitely, uh, “represent the most perfect or typical example of a quality or class.”
Anyway,
Here’s our picks, lines via FanDuel Sportsbook.
Texas (+2.5) at Ohio State
LC’s Picks: Ohio State definitely lost quite a bit but I think I like the Buckeyes here. We haven’t seen enough Arch
Manning for me to believe he’ll thrive in a hostile road environment in his first big time college start. The same could be said for Julian Sayin, but he has a football-catching cyborg to throw to. Ohio State to win and cover.
Colin’s Picks: I think Texas wins and covers 2.5 but this is the one I’m least sure about cause Ohio State still has probably the best player in the country, despite the changes to the staff and roster from the Championship team.
Alabama (-13.5) at Florida State
LC’s Picks: I mean, come on now. Alabama covers.
Colin’s Picks: Florida State has to prove to me that they aren’t frauds. That said, I have integrity and will not compliment an SEC team in a non-conference game. They won’t cover. Also the over/under at 50.5 seems high.
LSU (+3.5) at Clemson
LC’s Picks: LSU has ended up in too many games wherein an exasperated Brian Kelly looks on as the big “TOUCHDOWN” graphic in the opposing team’s colors flashes below his dejected visage. I think this continues.
Colin’s Picks: Tom Allen, Dabo Swinney, and Brian Kelly is a murderer’s row, probably for the wrong reasons in 2025. My pick is to not try to predict this one.
Utah (-6.5) at UCLA
LC’s Picks: So. I like Kyle Whittingham. I know Utah hasn’t been itself for a minute, but that UCLA program wasn’t ready for tough, physical football last year. Utah wins.
Colin’s Picks: Tino Sunseri plus Nico Iamaleava with a chip on his shoulder, I like the Bruins to cover if not win outright here.
Notre Dame (-2.5) at Miami
LC’s Picks: Are we sure about that spread. Like, really sure. Notre Dame to cover.
Colin’s Picks: I think Notre Dame is more than 2.5 points better than Miami, even on the road.
Old Dominion (+23.5) at Indiana
LC’s Picks: The Hoosiers.
Colin’s Picks: 22.5 points is a lot to win by in week one but Curt Cignetti does not know how to take his foot off the gas and there’s a good chance Indiana’s backups, who will probably play a good chunk of the second half, can still run it up.
