The New England Patriots have locked up another member of their 2026 free agency class. After already keeping cornerback Marcus Jones from the open market back in October, they have now also taken care of offensive lineman Ben Brown.
Scheduled to enter restricted free agency next offseason, Brown and the Patriots reached an agreement on a two-year extension through 2027. The deal carries a maximum value of $6.6 million with a base “closer to $5 million,” according to a report by Mike Reiss of ESPN.
Brown, 27, originally entered the NFL as an undrafted free agent with the Cincinnati Bengals in 2022. The Ole Miss product later also spent time with the Seattle Seahawks and Las Vegas Raiders, appearing in one combined game along the way. In October 2023, he arrived in New England via the Raiders’ practice squad.
Brown started all 10 games he appeared in at the Patriots’ center position, and after the season was retained as an exclusive rights free agent. This season, he has served as the top backup along the interior offensive line, appearing in 15 games with two starts and a total playing time share of 21.3%.
