We are fewer than three weeks from the end of the season. Despite the crummy ball the Royals have played, this summer has really flown by. The Royals have guaranteed they will go a third straight season without losing 100 games, but precious little else in the positives column.
Any team that fails to earn a playoff berth is naturally considered
ripe for a potential change at the managerial level. The Royals are no exception to this.
I find these odds a bit laughable. If for no other reason than Kurt Suzuki is on a one-year deal. There’s no reason to fire him; you can just not offer him another contract. I also have a hard time believing the Royals would want to fire their manager two seasons after he led the squad to one of the greatest bounceback seasons in MLB history, taking 2023’s 106-loss squad and managing them to 86 wins and a playoff berth. To say nothing of the fact that the Royals chose to extend him this past offseason and he hasn’t even technically started that new contract, yet.
