The full UFC White House card will finally be announced on Saturday night during UFC 326.
That’s according to UFC CEO Dana White, who has been teasing he’d drop the line-up soon during multiple interviews leading up to the big Max Holloway vs. Charles Oliveira card in Las Vegas on March 7th.
“You have said you’re announcing the White House card this week,” a reporter asked him at the UFC 326 press conference. “When exactly can we expect that announcement?”
“Saturday night,” White replied.
For those wondering
exactly when the UFC might make the announcement, it’s worth noting that UFC 326 will partially air on CBS from 8pm to 10pm EST, meaning the last hour of prelims and the first hour of what was formerly considered the pay-per-view. We’d expect the promotion to drop the announcement sometime during that block.
That’s just our guess, but it makes all the sense in the world. The tease of seeing the White House card revealed on live broadcast TV is the perfect lure to make CBS’ debut UFC broadcast a big deal, and it ensures the maximum number of people hear the news with enough of a buffer that it doesn’t completely drown out the BMF belt battle between Holloway and Oliveira later that night.
As for who will be on the card, that’s still unclear. The top contenders as of this writing are Alex Pereira vs. Jon Jones or Ciryl Gane and Conor McGregor vs. who knows. Ilia Topuria vs. Justin Gaethje seems like it would be a great option, but the White House is currently engaged in a national scuffle with Spain over the use of their military bases for operations against Iran. If Topuria wasn’t ‘too Hispanic’ for the June 14th card before, he may be now.
We’ll see how all the unique factors involved in booking a six (or seven) fight UFC White House card played out on Saturday March 7th when the line-up finally drops. Keep it locked to MMA Mania for all the news and analysis when it happens.
