What is the story about?
On Tuesday, the Washington Mystics announced that they waived guard Alex Wilson. Wilson was a rookie, but a long-time professional veteran from Australia. She averaged 3 points per game for Washington this season.
In pregame availability before the Mystics’ game against the Chicago Sky, Head Coach Sydney Johnson noted that the decision to waive Wilson was due in part because of the Mystics’ need to see younger players develop.
In layman’s terms, the Mystics doubling down on their efforts to build with a young roster, which was already among the youngest in WNBA history as it is. It will also be interesting to see how the Mystics use Wilson’s vacancy in the near future.
