The Buffalo Bills are finally back on the practice field after a bye in Week 7 that kept them idle last weekend. With that, One Bills Drive is no doubt looking to put a two-game slide behind them. There’s no shortage of armchair opinions about what Buffalo needs to do in order to correct
course, but the fact remains that the Bills are still 4-2 and in playoff contention.
If that doesn’t feel like enough through six weeks, it’s understandable. If also feels as though the offense is regressing, which may or may not be true — the the eye test seems to reveal say it’s so regardless. The great news is that fans haven’t seen the best out of Josh Allen this season. Why is that great? Well, it means there’s much to look forward to and plenty of room to improve without peaking too soon.
Is it likely the Bills go undefeated the rest of the way? No. But it’s also possible that any loss over the course of the next couple months isn’t detrimental to their bigger goals. The move is to constantly improve, win or lose. Offensive coordinator Joe Brady has a proven track record with the Bills in fielding a dangerous offense, but he needs to be willing to further adapt his scheme to help players succeed.
Defensive coordinator Bobby Babich may find some relief with the return of previously suspended free-agent defensive linemen Michael Hoecht and Larry Ogunjobi. Babich should soon also see what the team has in rookie cornerback Maxwell Hairston, who has finally returned to the practice field after suffering a knee injury in training camp.
Has enough happened to allow you to course-correct your confidence in these Buffalo Bills? Will Buffalo get back to their winning ways in Week 8 and defeat an unfamiliar for with a solid defense and potent run game in the Carolina Panthers?
