After a weekend of mostly positive results, we move on to Week 3 for the Mountain West and the rest of college football.
Looking over at FanDuel’s opening odds can tell us a bit about what the oddsmakers think about this week’s slate of games. Since we cover the entire Mountain West, we have info for every team in addition to your favorite one.
This post is not to tell you who to bet on but merely serves as a spot to find info from FanDuel and then get our interpretation on the odds and betting lines.
FanDuel Odds & Thoughts
One note, FanDuel doesn’t yet have odds for the games against FCS teams. So, check their site later in the week for info on Fresno State and Hawaii.
New Mexico @ UCLA: +15.5 Lobos, O/U 52.5
- UCLA returns home after a setback against UNLV, and is a sizable, albeit not overwhelming favorite of Jason Eck’s Lobos. New Mexico isn’t expected to win, but the Bruins aren’t expected to run away with one either.
Middle Tennessee @ Nevada: -8.5 Wolf Pack, O/U 47.5
- After a scare against Sacramento State, Nevada welcomes another meager opponent to Reno this week. Middle Tennessee is sporting a blowout loss to Austin Peay on their resume. Needless to say, the Wolf Pack should win this week, although this spread suggests it might be tighter than Choate and co. would like.
Utah @ Wyoming: +23.5 Cowboys, O/U 48.5
- Jay Sawvel’s Pokes had a solid performance against Northern Iowa and quarterback Kaden Anderson doesn’t have any injury concern after a brief scare. They’ll take on a familiar face in quarterback Devon Dampier, the former Lobos turned Ute. As evidenced by the spread, it would be a surprise if Wyoming pushes this vaunted Utah squad.
Air Force @ Utah State: -4.5 Falcons, O/U 50.5
- A pivotal early season conference matchup. The Falcons had a bye to prep for this game, while the Aggies put up a somewhat respectable loss against Texas A&M. FanDuel is expecting a close contest where every touchdown and field goal will matter.
