Arne Slot spoke to the press ahead of Sunday night’s meeting with Arsenal at Anfield, and the Liverpool boss had no bad news to share.
Conor Bradley, who came off the bench in the second half against Newcastle, did not pick up any new injury concerns in his cameo — though he might not be back to full fitness as yet. Alexis Mac Allister, who was not in the squad last Monday, should be available for selection again.
Importantly, Slot reported no new injury concerns following the physical showing at St.
James’ Park: though Virgil Van Dijk faced a heavy tackle that saw Anthony Gordon sent off on a straight red, the Liverpool head coach has confirmed that the captain is fully fit ahead of Sunday.
Slot found himself emphasizing the positives, even if Jeremie Frimpong remains out until after the international break. “I think the positive is that Conor Bradley only had one or two training sessions before the Newcastle game, he has trained this week the whole week – [well] not the whole week as there are still two days to go,” the Liverpool boss said.
“Mac Allister has also started training again so I don’t think we had any injuries coming out of that game [at Newcastle], no.”
Arsenal look like they will come into this one with some real (rather than rumored) injury concerns, as Bukayo Saka went off against Leeds with another hamstring issue. Martin Odegaard picked up a shoulder issue, but might be fit in time for Sunday, while Kai Havertz is out long-term with a knee injury from matchday one.
