Kentucky football is scheduled to host No. 21 Texas this evening in what’s previewed to be an uphill battle for the Wildcats.
Standing at 2-3, the Wildcats have as many BYES as wins so far this season.
Head coach Mark Stoops has never been stellar coming out of a BYE and is under as much scrutiny this season as he’s ever faced with the end of an era potentially looming.
Texas is favored by 12.5 points, and ESPN’s Football Power Index is giving the Longhorns an 82.2% chance to win.
Preseason Heisman Trophy
favorite Arch Manning has been far from impressive so far this season, but the Longhorns are coming off a triumphant beatdown of No. 6 Oklahoma last Saturday that propelled them back into the Top-25 rankings.
The highlight for Texas this fall has been their defense, and unfortunately for Kentucky, the downfall for the Wildcats has been their offense.
All signs point to tonight’s game being an unfavorable matchup for Stoops and his team, and the fact that it’s been over a calendar year since Kentucky won a Southeastern Conference game doesn’t provide any optimism.
Stoops is usually good for an unusual upset each year, though, so maybe tonight is the night for Kentucky football.
