Maryland football redshirt freshman cornerback Lloyd Irvin III was reported as the player who suffered a serious injury Wednesday at practice, according to Sam Jane of the Baltimore Sun.
Irvin’s injury
was categorized as “serious but not life-threatening” by Prince George’s County Fire and EMS Department. He reportedly fell on his neck after having his legs taken out from underneath him and reported symptoms consistent with a spine or nerve injury, according to emergency dispatch records. He was taken to the hospital as a precaution, a team spokesperson said.
Irvin is back with the team, according to the spokesperson. The spokesperson did not identify Irvin by name.
Irvin played four snaps on defense in Maryland’s season opener against Florida Atlantic and appeared on special teams against Wisconsin and Washington.
