One of the top prospects in the 2026 recruiting class, North Carolina native Cole Cloer, has decided he will no longer take an official visit to Kentucky, according to Travis Branham of 247 Sports. This comes following a visit to UConn over the weekend.
The highly sought-after wing player was set to take a trip to Lexington in mid-September, but those plans have changed as Cloer shifts his focus to other programs. He’s now slated to visit Alabama this weekend.
Cloer, known for his versatility and scoring
on the wing, has been one of the most sought-after players in the upcoming 2026 class. Kentucky did not make Cloer’s top 8 list on July 3rd, but was still in the mix for the 6-7 wing after offering him a scholarship. Cloer will look to build relationships with other schools and look to set a commitment date.
While this news takes Kentucky out of the immediate picture, Mark Pope and the Wildcats will look to pick up their first commitment of the 2026 class here soon. Cloer, whose stock is rising, should have an interesting decision to make with a lot of elite programs in the mix for his recruitment.
