They’re heading into the locker rooms at halftime at U.S. Bank Stadium, and your Minnesota Vikings are tied with the Detroit Lions, 7-7.
The Lions started the second quarter with the football, and their drive ended with their second lost fumble of the game, as Jahmyr Gibbs had the ball stripped away by Eric Wilson, with Byron Murphy jumping on the loose ball for another Minnesota turnover.
Unfortunately, a couple of penalties and another
sack by Aidan Hutchinson forced the Vikings to punt the ball away again, and the punt went into the end zone for a touchback for Ryan Wright.
Detroit then pushed the ball into Minnesota territory after a couple of big third-down conversions and ultimately found themselves facing a 4th-and-1 from the Minnesota 3-yard line. Dan Campbell, as is his wont, elected to go for it and handed the ball to David Montgomery around the right side. The call on the field was that Montgomery got the first down, and Kevin O’Connell challenged the call. The call wound up being upheld, and it was goal-to-go for Detroit.
The Lions then, very quickly, found themselves facing fourth-and-goal again after a strong stand from Minnesota’s defense, and Detroit decided they were going to go for it again. Goff then found Isaac Teslaa in the back of the end zone for a 4-yard score, and the game was tied at 7-7. That was the first touchdown pass allowed by the Minnesota defense since the fourth quarter of Week 10.
The Vikings got one last possession, but Max Brosmer was sacked for the fourth time in the first half, and the teams went into the locker room tied. Detroit will get the ball first coming out of the locker room, as the Vikings won the coin toss and took the football first.
We have made it to halftime on Christmas Day at U.S. Bank Stadium, and the Minnesota Vikings are tied with the Detroit Lions, 7-7. Come on in and join us for the third quarter of play!
