Damn. I really thought we had it. I am devastated. At the same time, I loved watching the 2025-26 Miami Hurricanes football team more than any other since the 2002 squad. The Canes lost the 2025-26 CFP National Championship last night to the Indiana Hoosiers at Hard Rock Stadium, 27-21. I am as heartbroken as every other die-hard Miami Hurricanes fan out there right now. I honestly thought we were going to win. I really did. Despite all of that, it was an awesome ride and I am looking forward to 2026-27
with Mensah (hopefully) leading the offense.
Let’s get to the three stars of the game.
1. Bain and Mesidor
Miami’s dynamic defensive duo lived in the backfield last night. Bain finished with 8 total tackles, one sack, and 2.5 TFLs. Mesidor had 3 total tackles, 2 sacks, and 2 TFLs. They put pressure on Mendoza all game long. I am so shook that I honestly don’t know what else to write. For what it’s worth, the Miami Hurricanes had the best defensive end combo in the country this season.
2. Mark Fletcher Jr.
Mark Fletcher Jr. is the ultimate Miami Hurricane. That third-quarter touchdown run was the highlight of my night (at least before the Toney touchdown). Fletcher ran hard last night, despite not having a ton of room on most of his carries. He finished with 17 carries for 112 yards and 2 touchdowns. Love this dude.
3. Malachi Toney
Miami’s superstar freshman didn’t disappoint last night. Toney finished with 10 catches for 122 yards and a touchdown. His fourth-quarter score gave me and every other Hurricanes fan hope that we were still going to pull it out. Malachi Toney ended the season as one of the best college football players in the country. Pretty good for a young man that should’ve been a senior in high school this past year. I can’t wait to see what he can do in his sophomore season.
Honorable mention:
Ahmad Moten Jr – Dude was a beast in the middle tonight. He finished with 5 total tackles and one TFL. I think Moten can be a first-round draft pick after an even better 2026 season.
