We’re back for another round of weekly predictions. This time it is for the Dallas Cowboys game against the Baltimore Ravens in Brazil.
Last week we did pretty well as Dak Prescott did indeed ‘go off’ in the game to the tune of four touchdowns and no interceptions. We also predicted Jake Ferguson would catch two touchdowns and he did exactly that. The Quinnen Williams prediction, unfortunately, did not come through.
The field in Brazil has been a major talking point and we’re going to follow that line
into our predictions. The Cowboys are the designated home team for the game, but they are 3.5-point underdogs according to our friends at FanDuel. The over/under is 52.5 points.
On to the predictions.
Derrick Henry goes for 150 yards rushing
The Cowboys have yet to get control of the line of scrimmage from a defensive standpoint this season. The move to Christian Parker’s new scheme has helped in some areas, but stopping the run is still a weak point. Kenny Clark and Quinnen Williams haven’t played up to the standards they have set previously.
Now they have to face Derrick Henry and Lamar Jackson. The Ravens have seen the film, so they are going to pound the line of scrimmage with their battering ram, Derrick Henry. It probably will not go well for Dallas. The prediction is that Henry will top 150 yards rushing in this game while collecting one rushing touchdown.
The field costs one big play
The field in Brazil has received a ton of attention as the soccer team that normally plays there has complained about the footing. There have also been a lot of rain over the last month on the field, leaving it’s condition in doubt. The NFL is trying to say there is no problem, but where there is this much smoke there is usually fire.
The prediction is that somewhere along the way, a big play will happen, or get ruined, because of footing on the field. A wide receiver will slip while wide open, a defender will lose their footing before they can make a touchdown-saving tackle. Or maybe a quarterback falls while trying to avoid a crucial sack on a third down. Something will happen.
The Cowboys win on turnovers
The Cowboys won’t dominate the game, in fact, when the stats are compiled at the end it will look like a Ravens win. Except for turnovers. The Cowboys defense has been very good about punching the football loose, although they haven’t got as many recoveries as we would like.
This time they get a couple of fumble recoveries, and they pick off a Lamar Jackson pass. They will get outplayed, but will capitalize on turnovers to get a close win.
