North Carolina Courage midfielder Ashley Sanchez will stay with the Courage through 2027, the club announced on Tuesday. Sanchez’s contract was previously set to expire at the end of 2026.
“Ashley embodies
the style of play that we want to continually evolve at this club. Her technical quality, creativity and competitiveness elevate everyone around her. We are delighted that she has committed to the Courage and look forward to challenging and supporting her through the next phase of her career – there’s plenty more to come,” said Courage Chief Soccer Officer Ceri Bowley.
Sanchez first joined the North Carolina Courage in 2024, after being traded from the Washington Spirit. Sanchez was drafted to the Spirit with the fourth overall pick in 2020.
At the Courage, Sanchez has made 49 regular season appearances, and contributed seven goals and six assists. She was a finalist for NWSL Midfielder of the Year in 2024.
Internationally, Sanchez has made 28 appearances for the US Women’s National Team.
The Courage recently announced the hiring of Mak Lind as the team’s new Head Coach. Lind previously coached BK Häcken in Sweden.
The team will start the 2026 NWSL season on March 14, with a home match against Racing Louisville.
