Last week the New York Jets failed to take advantage of an opportunity to get to .500 on the season and move into 2nd place in the AFC East when they lost a close game to the New England Patriots. The Jets got to within a touchdown with more than seven minutes remaining in the game. Then the Patriots, behind a makeshift offensive line missing most of their starters, put together a soul crushing, clock crunching, game sealing drive in which they basically ran the ball right down the Jets’ throats,
and the Jets were helpless to stop it. It was a humiliating end to a pretty good overall performance by the Jets.
The loss gave the Jets a 2-4 record on the season. Today the Jets are home at MetLife Stadium as they try to get back on the winning track against a winless Miami Dolphins team. Kickoff is scheduled for shortly after 1 PM EDT.
The Dolphins have had a challenging schedule to start the 2026 season. They have yet to face a team with a losing record. The Jets will be their first such opponent. Coming off a tough loss against a division rival, the Jets could be set up for a letdown against the Dolphins. It’s up to the coaches and players to make sure that doesn’t happen.
The Dolphins have dismantled the Jets on a regular basis in recent years. They have won 16 of the last 20 games played between these two teams. If the Jets want to compete for a playoff spot that will need to change. The Dolphins are a team in the midst of a clear tank. The Jets are the better, more talented team, and they are getting back close to full strength after a string of injuries hurt the team in the early part of the season. Can the Jets take care of business at home today? We’ll find out soon enough.
It’s the Jets and the Dolphins in game 7 of the 2026 season. Enjoy the game everyone.
