AAA announced a new general manager for the promotion, and that man is Rey Mysterio. Dominik Mysterio was not happy about this news.
AAA TV on Saturday night (May 23, 2026) opened with the grand announcement. Dorian Roldan thought his mother would hand over the reins to him. Marisela Peña hyped the new general manager as someone with passion, someone who understand the heart and soul of lucha libre, and someone recognizable around the world. Dorian was flattered as he assumed those compliments were
about him. Marisela introduced the new GM, and it was Rey Mysterio.
Rey delivered a speech to the crowd. AAA gave him a shot early in his career, and he found a family. Now, Rey returns as GM with the goal to take AAA to greater heights in the new era of the company under WWE management.
Cameras showed AAA mega champion Dominik Mysterio watching on the monitor backstage. He threw a fit. Also of note, Savio Vega took Rey’s spot on English commentary to help with translations as Corey Graves and JBL call the action.
There’s no word on what this means for Rey’s career inside the ring in terms of being an active wrestler.
